And on a somewhat tangential note, why do people in Pune insist on putting up name-plates in Marathi (which is perfectly fine), but with English content?
For example – say there’s a Puneri who goes by the name of Rahul Govind Thatte.
A nameplate that says R.G. Thatte in English is fine.
Ra. Go. Thatte (written as as shown, but in Devnagari) is fine.
But I do not get Aar. Jee. Thattee (again, in Devnagari).
